Heat Sealing and Film Lidding

We supply heat sealing equipment for sealing film to foil, plastic and ovenable board containers.

Film lidding of smoothwall containers often proves to be more economical than the foilboard lids used with existing wrinklewall foil trays. The films used are simple to peel off before cooking. Weld seal or ovenable films are also available. Films used can be clear or coloured, printed or plain. Anti-fog versions offer enhanced film clarity where storage temperatures may fluctuate.

Plain smoothwall containers are supplied with a very small residue of edible food grade lubrication on the surface as a result of the manufacturing process. Heat seal films used to cover the foils should be capable of sealing through this layer. Details of heat seal film suppliers (for both light and strong-peel seals) are available on application.

A number of suppliers of heat seal machinery have experience of sealing lidding films to our Smoothwall Foil Trays. This sealing can be accomplished with high speed sealing machines as well as slower-speed rotary machines - or even table-top sealers, with their associated low cost and high speed of tool change.

The Type 290 Heat Sealing machine provides a manual, low-cost and robust machine for heat sealing film to our containers. By using interchangeable profiled mould tools, a range of single or multi compartment trays can be accomodated with continuous edge sealing being applied. It is particularly suited to:
