About Us: Company History

Our Company
Founded in 1989, Nicholl Food Packaging has grown to encompass production facilities on two large sites in the UK.

These are complemented by a further manufacturing facility in France and a Northern European warehousing and distribution hub in Belgium. Both of these sites are operated by our Ecopla company which is the only remaining French-based manufacturer.

By organic growth and acquisition we have become the largest producer of aluminium foil containers in Europe.
 

In the Beginning

Nicholl Food Packaging began trading in 1989 with a small factory in Wolverhampton, but a year later moved to a 7,486 square metre site at Aldridge.This substantial site had plenty of room for natural expansion.

• Continuing growth led to a move to a new headquarters near Cannock, Staffordshire, England in 2004.

Production facilities that make use of latest technology

• The Company also operates foil container manufacturing plant at Chapel-en-le-Frith in Derbyshire, England.

• Working from these sites, each having its own productive strength, Nicholl Food Packaging will continue to build upon its reputation for quality product allied to excellent customer service.

Product Versatility

The business has evolved its product range to meet the changing needs of the food retail sector. This has resulted in a product offering that covers not only the traditional bakery and wholesale markets, but also encompasses the developing areas where innovation and quality are essential. The development of the market for heat-sealable smoothwall containers for Ready Prepared / Ready to Cook meals extended our key involvement in this sector, and we are now the main supplier of these products.
