MAYOR KEPT BUSY IN WALSALL COMPANY VISIT

2022-12-05

Walsall’s mayor was kept busy when he visited the Aldridge headquarters of an international manufacturing company.

For as well as a full company presentation and a guided tour of Nicholl Food Packaging, Councillor Roger Collins formally presented the firm with three quality certificates.

Nicholl, of Brickyard Road, Empire Industrial Park, is the biggest manufacturer of aluminium foil food containers in Europe with a workforce of around 400 at six separate locations including two on the Continent.

The company’s products can be seen on the shelves of every major supermarket in Britain, including Marks & Spencer, Tesco, Sainsbury and Safeway.

Councillor Collins and Mayoress Mrs Joyce Collins were welcomed by the firm’s chairman, Wilson Nicholl, who founded the company in 1989.

They visited the shop floor, looked at the manufacturing process and talked to production, technical and engineering staff.

The mayor presented three awards won by Nicholl Food Packaging in the last year – its new ISO 9001 and 14001 certificates and the British Retail Consortium/Institute of Packaging standard for food packaging materials.
