Roctool’s ecomolding convinces the cosmetics sector

2022-12-29

With a solid experience in engineering applied to various industries (automotive, high technology, consumer goods), Roctool is consolidating its legitimacy in the beauty packaging space, a sector in which it introduced a few years ago, in the midst of the ecological transition of packaging. He has extensive experience in materials and transformation processes and brands and manufacturers quickly perceived the economic and sustainability advantages of Roctool’s technology, especially with regard to recycled materials.

The ecomoldeo, the star service of Roctool

Thanks to its technological innovation in the field of induction during the injection phase and its knowledge of the materials, Roctool accompanies beauty companies in the development of their packaging. Roctool’s eco-friendly moulding initiative guarantees a sustainable compromise between the choice of materials, the anticipation of textures and the definition of processes. This triple experience is justified from the product design phase.

Selecting the right material

Roctool’s HD Plastics database catalogues a multitude of traditional and new generation resins. Each of them has been subjected to industrial tests that allow to identify the optimal parameters in the Roctool cycle (injection pressure, CO2 emission…) compared to conventional molding.

This library is constantly enriched thanks to collaborations with material suppliers, constituting a precious resource to define the design of a piece (format, wall thickness, complex shapes…) thanks to the anticipation of the behavior of the material during injection. Roctool is equipped with a laser and injection laboratory that allows it to perform different tests with its partners and customers.

Revealing the material and limiting secondary processes

Thanks to the use of heat during the injection phase, the laser texturing of the molds allows the sublimation of the material and the obtaining of a finished surface with spectacular results, including matte or high gloss finishes, velvety touch and frosted effect, for example. The Roctool solution thus alleviates the need for certain secondary stages of decoration, thus reducing the carbon footprint of the product, especially when used with recycled materials.
