Sidel’s new agile and compact palletizing unit combines robotics and coibotics

2023-04-11

Sidel expands its palletizing range with the launch of the RoboAccess_Pal S. This new palletizing unit, which will be presented at Interpack, combines the best of the robotic and cobotic worlds. It offers greater agility, operability and compactness to the food, home and personal care (FHPC) market segments.

With the introduction of cobotics in palletizing, Sidel responds to the growing market demand for very compact and affordable cells, which generally replace manual operations. For the most demanding lines, where robotic arms could offer higher technical performance, Sidel has used its more than 50 years of experience in palletizing to create an all-in-one solution that combines a reduced size, a fast return on investment and a higher payload and speed.

RoboAccess_Pal S offers speeds of up to 12 cycles per minute and allows a case payload of up to 25 kg, while ensuring a quick return on investment, usually one to two years. The palletizing solution offers a new level of compactness with an area of less than 12 m2 for two stations with a significant pallet height of 1,700 mm.

We have designed RoboAccess_Pal S to offer a solution that brings together the best of the robotic and robotic-cobotic worlds, satisfying the needs of our customers in a wide range of applications and market categories,” says Fabien Chiron, Director of Innovation of the palletizing product line. “With more than 1,300 robotic palletizing installations worldwide, Sidel has also been leading the implementation of collaborative robotics since 2011. We have built on this combined experience to offer an innovative mixed result as well as totally new additional features.”

Available in ten weeks only, RoboAccess_Pal S incorporates three new patented features to provide an even higher level of agility, operability and compactness. The lightweight, 3D-printed carbon fiber clamping head helps to increase the payload capacity and reduce the space occupied by the machine when handling a wide range of secondary packaging. In addition, the patented folding protection system guarantees mobile and effortless Plug & Play capabilities. Sidel guarantees a high level of safety standards and a patented movable physical curtain ensures operator protection during pallet delivery and removal, as well as helping to further reduce the machine footprint.

Sidel will present the new palletizing solution for the first time at Interpack, the international packaging fair, which will be held from 4 to 10 May in Düsseldorf (Germany). Visitors and journalists are invited to come to the Sidel stand in hall 13, stand B47, to find out more details.
